Coaching carousel continues

Yet another Pac-10 coach is leaving her team for a job back east. The latest emigrant from the conference is Cal women's basketball coach Joanne Boyle.

Boyle accepted the head coaching position at the University of Virginia, athletics director Craig Littlepage announced Saturday.

Boyle leaves the Golden Bears after directing them to a 137-64 record in her six year stint. During that span, Cal played in four NCAA Tournaments and two Women's National Invitational Tournaments, including winning the 2010 WNIT.

Prior to Boyle's arrival in Berkeley, the Golden Bears withstood 12 consecutive years without a winning record.

Boyle returns to the ACC where she was a four-year letter winner with the Duke Blue Devils. She also served as an assistant at Duke from 1993 to 2002.

Both of Virginia's head men's and women's basketball coaches are now former head coaches from the Pac-10. UVa previously hired Washington State's Tony Bennett to head up it's men's program prior to the 2009-2010 season.
